Overview

Freedom Units processes PDFs to highlight and display unit conversions within your browser. We aim to collect and retain as little information as possible.

What We Process

• Uploaded files: Your PDF is processed to detect and convert measurements. Files are handled temporarily for the purpose of conversion and are not stored long-term.
• Conversion metadata: Counts of measurements, processing time, and usage metrics may be displayed to you and used for service improvements.

Third-Party Services

• OpenAI API: We use the OpenAI API to help analyze documents and perform unit detection and/or conversion logic. Portions of your document content (text extracted from the PDF and related prompts) may be sent to OpenAI’s servers for processing. We do not submit personally identifiable information intentionally. OpenAI’s systems may retain data for abuse monitoring as described in their policies.
• Analytics: We may use Google Analytics to understand overall usage trends.
• Advertising: Google-served ads may appear on some pages. Ad providers may use cookies or similar technologies subject to their policies.

Data Retention

Uploaded files and derived data are kept only as long as needed to perform the conversion and display results, after which they are discarded. We do not build user profiles.

Your Choices

• You may choose not to upload documents if you do not wish any content to be transmitted to third parties for processing.
• Use private/incognito mode or clear your browser data if you want to remove local traces of usage.
